Learning By Doing, Feeling With Heart

Asia Traffic Supply Company is an auto part manufacturer in Taiwan. We insist that our products are 100% made in Taiwan and we hire Taiwanese employee for 50 years since established. Despite the limitation of the scale of our company, we have consistently provided job offers for local friends. We understand the relation between Asia Traffic Supply Company and this island. As the saying goes, "Giving Back to Society What Society Gave Us", when we have the ability to contribute to this island, we chose to be Corporate Volunteers and participate in Working Holiday with our coworkers and their family and friends, to accomplish the idea of coexistence and co-prosperity.

Qigu Sandbank Retaining

Most of our members are from Chunghwa, Taichung and Nantou, living in city or near mountain area. We are familiar with mountain but not the ocean, so we chose Tainan Qigu to be our first stop. We use the straws of first cultivations of rice crop that we purchased from local farmers. By planting the straws into sand can make sea wind cause less damage to sandbank, in order to retain sandbank. Straws also can decompose by times, will not leave burden to environment.

To eat the foods are in season, like milkfish, oyster and tilapia, can help local fishers rely on fishing to maintain their living. Avoiding the consumption of pelagic fish can also reduce more carbon footprint from fishing processing.

In the end of journey, we took boat traveling around Qigu and Wangzailiao sandbank. Hope we can generate local business opportunity and understand Taiwan in different way.

Starting Environmental Friendly With Generations

In Qigu Sandbank Retaining event, some of our coworkers took their parents and their next generation, some with their siblings and friends. When the end of day, one of our friends shared that, "Maybe our effort is too small to withstand the environmental changes caused by social construction. However, when we actually experienced the changes of sandbank, we have the chance to reflect on it. We started thinking about the relation with the environment, is much better than not participating at all. Also by reducing the use of disposable products is a good way to reduce the harm to the environment."
